The Bigger Picture...
2009 was a challenging year for most as the economic meltdown made its presence known across multiple industries with many small, medium and large organisations suffering closure. The bigger impact has been on the wider community though with jobs lost and added pressures brought upon society. Unsurprisingly, it is not uncommon to hear phrases such as "greedy corporations" and "they only care about profit" - however the bottom line is without profitability everyone loses if a business goes under. It is no secret that the construction industry has suffered significantly and HM Plant has experienced their own challenges too, and yet despite this has remained wholly committed to delivering its social and corporate responsibilities.
Over the past 12 months, notable contributions were made to the following good causes:
Be Smart, Be Safe, Be Seen – provided 10,000 children across the North East with hi visibility vests
Bikewise – HM Plant provided support to County Durham’s motorbike road safety event that promotes important messages designed to cut fatalities and reduce crime
Donation to Children Heart Foundation – a significant monetary donation was made
Donation to St Cuthbert's Care – a charity set up to help and support the North East’s most needy.
Donation to Injured Honda Sidecar Riders – Nick Crowe and Mark Cox who were severely injured during this year's Isle of Man TT
Donation to the Variety Club – a Children's Charity has been helping sick, disabled and disadvantaged children throughout the UK.
Donation to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation – a charity that raises money for the early detection and treatment of cancer.
As the end of the first quarter of 2010 nears with the UK government warning of further economic storms, HM Plant will continue to promote their social and environmental activities based on our corporate and social responsibilities.
